Halal Cleaning Products

Few people think to ask whether a cleaning product is halal, yet most soaps, detergents and softeners are made from fatty acid derivatives, and those derivatives can come from animal tallow just as easily as from plant oil. Every product here is GİMDES certified at product level.

What to look at in a cleaning product

Three groups of substances decide it: the soap base (sodium or potassium tallowate is animal tallow, while cocoate and olivate are plant based), the surfactants (cocoyl and glucoside derivatives are plant based, stearate derivatives are uncertain) and the cationic agents in softeners (cetrimonium, stearalkonium). Where a product touches food, as dishwashing liquid and kitchen cleaners do, these questions matter all the more.
