What it is & how it is made: A synthetic yellow colour; it is chemically produced and carries no animal source.
Where it is used: Used for yellow colour in confectionery, beverages, sauces and some medicines and cosmetics.
Health note: It has been restricted or banned in some countries; it is disputed with regard to hyperactivity and allergy. Caution is advised from the standpoint of the tayyib principle.
Halal assessment: It is synthetic in origin and contains nothing animal; there is no halal obstacle. It has been left as doubtful because of the health debate and the tayyib principle.
