What it is & how it is made: A synthetic green colour; it is chemically produced and carries no animal source.
Where it is used: Used for green colour in confectionery, canned peas, mint-sauce products, desserts and beverages.
Health note: It is restricted in some countries; allergy is rarely reported. From the standpoint of the tayyib principle, caution is advised with synthetic colours.
Halal assessment: It is synthetic in origin and contains nothing animal; in terms of source no halal obstacle is seen. It has been left as doubtful because of the tayyib principle and because it is a synthetic colour.
