Did you know?

A relative of the aubergine domesticated in Africa, with round fruits that are usually green, white or orange and carry a marked bitterness. Both the fruit and the leaves are cooked as vegetables. It is one of the most common vegetables in West African markets.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
