Did you know?

Its wild relative is the best-known weed of paddy fields, while the domesticated form is grown as a grain in India and Japan. It is one of the fastest cereals, ready to harvest in as little as forty-five days, and contains no gluten.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
