Did you know?

The red, tart and slightly astringent berries of a silver-leaved shrub, which the Indigenous peoples of the North American plains dried and mixed into the preserved meat preparation called pemmican. Frost sweetens them. Today they are used mostly for jelly and syrup.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
