Did you know?

The large seeds inside the cones of a giant Australian pine, cones that can weigh tens of kilograms. For Aboriginal peoples the heavy crop these trees bear every third year was the occasion for great gatherings that drew distant communities together. The seeds are boiled or roasted and taste much like chestnut.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
