Did you know?

The yellow or red fleshy false fruit from which the cashew nut hangs; the true fruit is the kidney-shaped nut at its tip. It is juicy and fragrant but tannins make it pucker the mouth. In Brazil and India it is drunk as juice and fermented; being easily bruised, it is not exported.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
