The most widely traded kind of cinnamon, with thicker, harder bark rolled in a single layer and a sharper taste than Ceylon cinnamon. ⚠️ Its coumarin content is markedly higher than that of Ceylon cinnamon, so regular consumption in quantity is not advised. Figures are per 100 g; cinnamon is used by the gram.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
