Did you know?

A fungus that grows as yellow-orange shelves on old tree trunks; young specimens earned the name from a fibrous texture and taste likened to chicken. ⚠️ Only the tender young margins are gathered and they are always cooked well, as the flesh turns woody with age. Growths on yew or eucalyptus are avoided, and some people react badly to it.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
