Did you know?

A round chilli no larger than a pea, regarded as the wild ancestor of all cultivated sweet and hot peppers, and intensely hot. It is dried and crumbled between the fingers, giving heat that is sharp but short-lived. Birds spread the fruit, so in the Sonoran Desert it grows wild at the foot of trees.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
