Did you know?

It comes from a gourd whose flesh is too bitter to eat and which is grown only for its seed. The seeds are hulled and ground to thicken the rich stews of West Africa, and they are high in both oil and protein.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
