Did you know?

A broad, flattened corm that can reach tens of kilograms. ⚠️ Like konjac it carries oxalate crystals, so it is soaked in tamarind or salted water and cooked thoroughly to stop it irritating the throat. In India it is a traditional vegetable, cooked especially around Diwali.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
