Did you know?

The small, dark-skinned tubers of a plant in the mint family; unlike the potato they are denser and more aromatic. In West Africa they are boiled or fried. It is a drought-tolerant crop that has fallen close to neglect.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
