Did you know?

Water-filled transparent bladders coat the leaf surface and make the plant look dusted with dew, which is where its name comes from. It tastes naturally salty, is used raw in salads, and is one of the few vegetables that can be irrigated with brackish water.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
