Did you know?

The dark purple, fleshy and resinous fruit of a conifer relative; what is eaten is botanically not a fruit but the swollen stalk that carries the seed. Its taste falls between plum and pine, and it is used in sauces for meat. The seed is discarded.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
