Did you know?

A plum-sized fruit with red-purple skin and a large stone, from the same family as the mango. Unripe it is green, firm and sour and is eaten raw with salt and chilli; ripe it becomes sweet and juicy. It is among the most common street fruits of Central American markets.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
