Did you know?

Small fruits borne in clusters on a thorny shrub, turning from pink to deep purple as they ripen. The unripe fruit is very sour and milky, and in India it is pickled or made into chutney, while the ripe fruit is eaten sweet-tart. The shrub is also planted as a hedge.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
