Did you know?

The white, layered bulb of edible lily species, separated into scales. In China and Japan it goes into soups, steamed sweets and stir-fries, cooking to a potato-like texture with a faint bitterness. Not all lilies are edible; only certain species are used in the kitchen.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
