Did you know?

It belongs to the same genus as breadfruit and jackfruit, and its thick, spiny-haired rind is pulled apart by hand. Inside are white, juicy, intensely sweet pods; the fruit spoils quickly once opened, so it travels poorly and is mostly eaten where it grows. The seeds are boiled or roasted.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
