Did you know?

The clustered blue-purple berries of a holly-leaved shrub related to the barberry; it is no relation of the grape and the name comes only from the look of the clusters. The fruit is very sour and full of seeds, so it is usually cooked with sugar into jelly and syrup. It is the state flower of Oregon.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
