Did you know?

The small, round seeds of the perilla plant, roasted and ground in Korean cooking as deulkkae and stirred into soups, vegetable dishes and dressings. Its oil has a distinctive aroma and, being heat-sensitive, is added after cooking rather than during.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
