Did you know?

The young leaves of the corn poppy before it flowers, foraged in Anatolia, Crete and southern Italy. They are boiled and dressed with olive oil or folded into pastries, with a mild, faintly sweet taste. Once the plant flowers the leaves toughen and are no longer picked.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
