Did you know?

A fleshy-leaved plant that grows in the crevices of rocky sea cliffs within reach of the spray, tasting salty, resinous and fennel-like. Its young leaves are pickled or added to salads. It is often confused with glasswort samphire but is a different plant, a member of the carrot family.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
