Did you know?

An oblong, dark purple fruit rich in oil; it is not eaten raw but softened in hot water or over a fire, at which point it takes on a buttery texture. In Central Africa it is eaten with salt and maize bread, and it is energy-dense.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
