Did you know?

The wild ancestor shared by beetroot, chard and sugar beet, growing on its own on coastal rocks and saline ground. Its thick, glossy leaves are cooked like spinach, and its salt tolerance keeps it available by the sea for most of the year.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
