Did you know?

A brown, astringent fruit shaped like a small pear or apple, eaten only after it has bletted and darkened on the tree or in straw, like a medlar. Grown since Roman times, it is today an almost abandoned fruit tree. In Anatolia the name üvez covers both this species and the rowan.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
