Did you know?

The fruit of the tree that yields shea butter; the green-brown, sweet and faintly resinous pulp around the kernel is eaten fresh and is an important source of calories in the harvest season. Because women gather and process it, in West Africa it is called women's gold. The kernel is roasted and pounded into shea butter.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
