Did you know?
One of the most widespread Indigenous greens of East and Southern Africa, known as sakura, spider plant or chinsaga, with markedly bitter leaves. Long cooking with milk or groundnut paste tempers the bitterness. Being drought-hardy, it is among the first vegetables to appear at the end of the dry season.
Consumption tip
Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
