Did you know?

A round fruit with a warty skin that turns red as it ripens, gathered along Turkey's Aegean and Black Sea coasts under local names such as kocayemiş and davulga. The flesh is granular and sweet, and stays astringent until fully ripe. Fruit and flower sit on the tree together, because the fruit ripens from the previous year's bloom.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
