Did you know?

The orange, oily and fibrous fruit of a spiny palm; the flesh is stripped from the stone and eaten as it is, or served in Manaus in a bread roll with cheese as a classic breakfast. Its taste sits between squash and carrot, with a dense texture. Oil is also pressed from the kernel.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
