Did you know?

The green-yellow, juicy, sweet-sour fruit of a tree of the arid caatinga, which fruits even in drought thanks to water-storing tubers on its roots, earning it the name of the sacred tree of the drylands. It is made into juice, preserves and a milk drink called umbuzada.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
