Did you know?

It is the pod of an orchid and, outside its homeland, the flowers must be pollinated by hand, since its natural pollinator is a bee that lives in Mexico. The green pod is odourless when picked; weeks of sweating and drying develop its aroma.

Consumption tip

Even natural produce may carry pesticide residues. Wash fruits and vegetables under plenty of running water and discard the outer leaves of leafy greens. A short soak in vinegar water can also help reduce residues. Where possible, prefer certified organic or good-agricultural-practice products.
