Ministry Pledges Continued Food Safety Work for 2026
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry says it will maintain its zero-tolerance food inspections at every stage of the farm-to-fork chain in 2026. Consumers are advised to shop at registered businesses, check labels and expiry dates, and avoid packages that are swollen, torn or leaking. To protect the cold chain, red meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, deli products and frozen goods should be picked up last while shopping, with refrigerators kept at 0-4 °C and freezers at -18 °C or below. At home, raw and cooked foods should be handled with separate boards and knives, and cooked dishes should not be left at room temperature but divided into small portions and chilled quickly. Suspicious situations can be reported through the ALO 174 food line or the Güvenilir Gıda mobile app.
