The General Directorate of Food and Control describes food safety as a holistic system covering production, processing, storage and distribution. The system relies on continuous monitoring through modern analytical methods, traceability practices and risk-based control processes. Running it effectively matters both for protecting public health and for guaranteeing consumers uninterrupted access to safe food.
