Detailed information
- What it is & how it is made
- The ground or extracted form of the turmeric root (Curcuma longa); it is a rawer form of E100 curcumin containing the whole spice extract. Its source is plant-based.
- Where it is used
- Used for colour and flavour in mustard, curry blends, pickles, soup, yellow cheese and baked goods.
- Health note
- It has a long history of safe use as a spice; no drawback is known at ordinary levels.
- Halal assessment
- Because its source is turmeric (plant-based), no halal problem is generally expected. However, because the carrier or bulking agent used so that it can be dispersed as a powder is not always stated, and this site's data holds no definite verification for this form, it has been left as doubtful for now; for definitive information the manufacturer's declaration should be consulted.
