Detailed information

What it is & how it is made: A synthetic blue colour; it is chemically produced and carries no animal source.
Where it is used: Used for blue colour in confectionery, ice cream, beverages and some medicines and medical tests.
Health note: Allergic reactions have rarely been reported; it is generally used at ordinary doses. Caution is advised from the standpoint of the tayyib principle.
Halal assessment: It is synthetic in origin and contains nothing animal; in terms of source no halal obstacle is seen. It has been left as doubtful because of the tayyib principle and because it is a synthetic colour.
