Sodyum alüminyum silikat
Alüminyum içeren topaklanma önleyici; şüpheli.
E-number category
Acidity regulator, raising agent, anti-caking agent
Detailed information
- What it is & how it is made
- Sodium aluminium silicate is a synthetically manufactured aluminium silicate compound.
- Where it is used
- Used as an anti caking agent and carrier. Its authorised use under the EU and Turkish Food Codex framework is limited: 20 mg/kg in salt used for the surface treatment of ripened cheese and 15,000 mg/kg in fat soluble vitamin preparations.
- Health note
- In its 2020 re-evaluation EFSA could not carry out a safety assessment because only very limited toxicological data and insufficient physicochemical characterisation were available. Calculations indicated that aluminium exposure from this additive could exceed EFSA's tolerable weekly intake (TWI) of 1 mg aluminium per kg body weight per week, reaching 1.58 to 2.13 mg per kg per week in children.
- Halal assessment
- Its source is mineral and synthetic, and no animal input is reported in its production. The carrier or processing aid in the finished product may differ, so consult the manufacturer's halal certificate for a definitive answer.
